Model the business you actually have
Schema.org includes a LegalService type. Choosing a type is only the beginning: the name, URL, service details, and any contact or location properties need to describe the actual entity. Do not apply a law-firm type to a marketing company because its customers are lawyers.
Use stable identifiers to connect the organization with appropriate pages. Avoid creating several incompatible identities for the same firm across plugins and templates.
Match the page, not the ambition
Structured data should agree with what a visitor can see. Do not add hidden awards, invented ratings, unsupported specialties, or offices that do not exist. If a biography changes, review markup that repeats the old information.
For an article, identify the real author or responsible organization and accurate dates. Do not set every update date to today merely to make old material look fresh.
Validate syntax and meaning separately
Parse the JSON-LD, check the vocabulary, and use the relevant search-engine testing tools. Then ask a human reviewer whether each claim is true. Passing a validator does not establish factual accuracy or guarantee a search feature.
Keep a small ownership note: who maintains the markup, where values originate, and which page changes should trigger a review. This prevents a technically correct implementation from quietly becoming stale.
Questions worth asking
Does valid schema guarantee AI recommendations?
No. It provides structured descriptions; it is not evidence that an engine will recommend the firm.
Should we add review ratings we cannot verify?
No. Omit unsupported claims, even if a plugin offers fields for them.
